Online TalkSociety for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB)29th January 2026 – 7:30pm

Join us for an engaging Zoom talk on Thursday 29th January exploring the remarkable work and legacy of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), kindly delivered by SPAB Chief Executive Matthew Slocombe.

Founded in 1877 by William Morris and Philip Webb, SPAB is often described as the original “anti-scrape” movement. SPAB was created to challenge unsympathetic restoration and to protect Britain’s most beautiful and historic buildings, values shared closely by West Midlands Heritage Trust. Matthew will introduce the Society’s fascinating history and discuss the issues that continue to inspire and motivate its work today.
