Our Purpose

Across the West Midlands, historic buildings are at risk; empty, deteriorating, or forgotten. West Midlands Heritage Trust works to bring them back to life.

From rural farmhouses to town centre landmarks, we identify those most in need and explore new futures; futures that serve their communities and remember their pasts. We believe historic places can be both beautiful and useful. They should not just survive, but support local need, economic activity and cultural life.

Our Approach

Each project begins with curiosity: What is this building’s story? Who did it serve? What could it be again?

We work in partnership with local stakeholders to explore viable uses ranging from cultural venues and community spaces to housing, workspace and more. Our work begins long before a scaffold is raised or a slate is replaced, navigating funding, planning and technical complexity. Where needed, we also take on ownership to ensure that buildings are not only restored, but well cared for into the future.

Our experience is rooted in decades of project work, but every building is different, and every solution is carefully tailored to its needs.
